Ready, an on-demand healthcare service, disclosed on Friday its in-home rapid COVID-19 testing, which provides results in 15 minutes or less. How it works? The company sends a healthcare professional, equipped with personal protective equipment, directly to a patient’s home to perform a rapid antigen test.

“Receiving the call that you or a family member has been exposed to COVID causes immediate stress and confusion,” said Ready Founder and CEO Justin Dangel. “Being able to receive a test at home, receive results immediately eases the stress of that process — all without visiting a hospital or doctor’s office.”

A LeadingAge spokeswoman welcomed the news, telling McKnight’s Home Care Daily, “Throughout the pandemic, LeadingAge has advocated for older adults and those who care for them to get access to new options and weapons to help win this ongoing war against the virus. We support the deployment of critical resources such as at-home tests as we continue to support those who are most vulnerable — older adults — and those who care for them, wherever that care is provided.”

Ready, a startup based in New Orleans, raised $54 million last September closed $54 million of new funding to finance the expansion of its operations and clinical programs that bring medical care directly to patients in their homes. It said it planned to use the funding to scale its operations in the midst of rapid expansion throughout 2020.

The Food and Drug Administration in December approved an at-home diagnostic COVID-19 test.
