Healthcare worker helps stretch patient's arm at home

For the second time in a week, The Ohio State University (OSU) Wexner Medical Center announced another expansion into in-home medical care. On Tuesday, the health center said it is partnering with DispatchHealth to provide in-home care to high-risk patients following an acute care hospital stay.

DispatchHealth provides a wide range of medical care for complex injuries and illnesses including viral infections, congestive heart failure and COPD exacerbations.

“Home health continues to be a critical component to our overall continuum of care. The partnership will provide our patients high-acuity care in the comfort of their own homes while reducing preventable hospital readmissions by connecting patients with a primary care physician or specialist,” Hal Paz, M.D., Ohio State Wexner Medical Center CEO, said.

Beginning July 1, patients can request care by phone or through DispatchHealth’s mobile app or website.

The announcement comes a little over a week after OSU Wexner Medical Center announced a home healthcare partnership with Alternate Solutions Health Network beginning in August.

The Kettering, OH-based company provides post-acute services for patients recovering from surgery or suffering from chronic conditions — such as cancer — or requiring skilled nursing or rehabilitation services.

Both partnerships will help Columbus, OH-based OSU Wexner Medical Center expand its footprint across central Ohio.
