Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach has been named Best 55+ Community by 55places.com, the website announced Monday. The community is a partnership between Minto Communities and Margaritaville Holdings.

Website traffic, home sales and offered amenities factored into the decision.

“There can be preconceived notions associated with aging, but Minto recognizes that today’s generation is different and empowers its audience to redefine what living life to the fullest can mean,” said 55places founder and CEO Bill Ness. “The idyllic state painted by the Latitude Margaritaville brand is intentional, and to many of its residents, is depicted accurately.”

Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach opened in early 2018 and is still in development, with more than 500 homes sold. Communities followed in Hilton Head, SC, which opened in November, and Watersound in the Florida Panhandle, which is set to open next year. The Daytona Beach community received week-long exposure on the “Wheel of Fortune” televised game show in late 2018.

“We had an incredible year at Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach, and we’re excited to kick off 2019 with this honor,” Margaritaville Chief Marketing Officer Tamara Baldanza-Dekker told McKnight’s Senior Living. “While our homes are beautiful and amenities world class, it’s the people who make the community truly special. We’re thrilled that 55Places recognizes that, and look forward to welcoming more residents to join in on the fun.”

William Bullock, president of Minto’s Latitude Margaritaville division, said: “We’re focused on four pillars, which [are] food, fun, music and escapism, which, if you talk to our current residents, is what we’re already delivering. We’re attempting to offer as much fun and energy that you may want on any given day.”
