A session titled “Understanding and reducing falls in senior living communities,” will conclude the fifth annual McKnight’s Senior Living Online Expo on June 17.

The session, which will begin at 2 p.m. ET, will help attendees better understand falls prevention in senior living. Speaker Melissa J. McGuire, PharmD, clinical manager at Omnicare, will outline the negative effects that falls can have on older adults, identify both intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors, review common medications that increase risk, highlight the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control’s STEADI (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths and Injuries) initiative, and address falls prevention plans.

Additional sessions during the McKnight’s Senior Living Online Expo will cover electronic health records technology and burnout. Attendees will have the opportunity to earn up to three continuing education credits.

The virtual doors to the free online event will open at 10:30 a.m. ET, providing attendees with the chance to network with peers and visit the online exhibition hall featuring products and services from companies serving the senior living profession. Webinar attendees also will be able to visit the booths before and after the CE sessions.
