McKnight’s Senior Living has earned a Platinum Award, the highest honor, in the business-to-business website category of the 2023 Hermes Creative Awards.

The recognition was one of seven awards bestowed on the national media brand for editorial excellence, with honors also received for editors’ columns, the daily e-newsletter, writing in the print magazine and an article.

Named on the best website award were McKnight’s Senior Living Editor Lois A. Bowers, Content Editor Kimberly Bonvissuto, Editorial Director John O’Connor, Special Projects Coordinator Foster Stubbs, former Art Director Mark Speakman, Graphic Designer Aminah Beg, Senior Art Director Monica Pizzi and writer Kathleen Steele Gaivin.

McKnight’s Senior Living also won three Gold Awards lauding:

  • The Editors’ Columns written by O’Connor and Bowers.
  • The Daily Briefing e-newsletter, the flagship newsletter of McKnight’s Senior Living. Named were Bowers, Bonvissuto, Connor, Beg, Speakman and former Special Projects Coordinator Caroline Szachnowski.
  • A column by Bowers, “The courage of her convictions” (July 8, 2022). For the piece, Juniper Communities’ founder and CEO Lynne Katzmann spoke with Bowers about the company’s decision to ensure that users of its health plan could “access all of their health benefits, including reproductive health services, should they wish to do so” following the Supreme Court’s overruling of Roe v. Wade.

Additionally, McKnight’s Senior Living won honorable mentions for writing in the print magazine; an article by Bowers, “As pandemic continues, solving labor challenges becomes even more urgent, leaders say”; and a blog post by Bowers, “Giving gray hair the green light.” Recognized for writing in the print magazine were Connor, Bowers, Bonvissuto, Gaivin, writer John Hall and columnists Lynne Moore and Stan Szpytek.

The international contest is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. All awards were for work completed in 2022.

McKnight’s Senior Living now has won a total of 46 Hermes Creative Awards since 2016, the first year of the competition after the brand expanded on its print publication by adding a website, daily e-newsletter and social media.
