In existence for less than a year, the McKnight’s Senior Living website has been honored by the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors as being one of the best in the industry.

The brand picked up a national Silver Award in the Best Website/Online Presence of a Publication category in the 2016 ASHPE Awards. The category recognizes “overall excellent editorial content and balance, graphic design, and interactive features that engage an active community.”

The McKnight’s Senior Living website, free Daily Briefing newsletter and social media efforts on Twitter and Facebook were launched in August, building on the existing print brand formerly known as McKnight’s Assisted Living, which has been published since 2003. Writing daily news for the site, blogging weekly and coordinating guest blog and other submissions is Senior Editor Lois A. Bowers. Also writing news and blogs is Editorial Director John O’Connor. Mark Speakman is art director for the brand. Both O’Connor and Speakman, along with other McKnight’s editorial and sales staff members and parent company Haymarket Media web team members, were instrumental in planning the site, which subsequently was built by Bowers.

Sister media brand McKnight’s Long-Term Care News earned four awards in this year’s ASHPE competition, in the best news coverage, best profile, best buyer’s guide and best new department categories.
