Pamela Maloney’s commitment to educating the public and other professionals about the senior living industry is constantly on display for Senior Living Residences.

Her work with the Massachusetts-based senior living owner and operator started when she was hired as a communications specialist in 2012. After several promotions, she ultimately was named director of marketing and technology in June 2019. Under her leadership, the company has expanded its marketing team. She also oversees its technology and software so it can be used effectively by other SLR associates.

Since joining the company, Maloney has played a key role in the development of several award-winning public education and outreach campaigns aimed at sharing expertise and knowledge about aging. Among them is the company’s Dementia Friendly Communities initiative, which was launched in 2014. The program works to combat social stigma around dementia, educates people about how to identify signs of the condition and provides them with helpful tools. The company has been able to train thousands of professionals and consumers through the initiative.

Maloney’s team also launched SLR’s internal Brain Healthy Cooking Program, which teaches older adults and the public in general what to eat to boost their cognitive and whole-body health. Her team also developed “Understanding the Costs and Paying for Senior Living,” a public education program aimed at helping families and older adults through the process of searching for a senior living community.

Maloney also was a driving force in expanding and transforming the company’s award-winning Alzheimer’s blog, AgeRight.org. The website was honored in 2013 by the Web Health Awards.

Her commitment to educating others about senior living and care, and her compassion for residents, are big reasons why fellow colleagues believe she will continue to enhance the industry’s reputation for years to come.

The McKnight’s Women of Distinction program is jointly administered by McKnight’s Senior Living and McKnight’s Long-Term Care News. The program’s Diamond sponsor is PointClickCare. Silver sponsors are OnShift and PharMerica, and the Signature sponsor is Acadia Pharmaceuticals.
