Female leaders at United Hebrew of New Rochelle can thank Rita Mabli, at least in part, for their successes.
Mabli, who has spent her entire career at United Hebrew, became the organization’s first female administrator and later its first female CEO and president. Today, women head all seven lines of business at United Hebrew.
As CEO and president, Mabli has had a far-reaching effect on the organization. Among her accomplishments, she led United Hebrew through a rapid period of growth, building award-winning assisted living, memory care and affordable senior housing communities, as well as adding rehabilitation, other long-term care and home care services. She also rebranded the senior living and care provider into a vibrant campus of comprehensive care to support older adults through all stages of aging, from those who live independently to those with advanced healthcare needs — and everyone in between.
Under Mabli’s leadership, United Hebrew has been recognized for superior standards of care. In 2019, the organization was selected to participate in the highly respected Montefiore Health System Skilled Nursing Facility Collaborative. It also consistently is named among the “Best Nursing Homes” by U.S. News & World Report and has earned a 5-star rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for five consecutive years.
In addition to that of residents, employees’ quality of life has fared well under Mabli. She strove to create a supportive work environment with flexible hours and telecommuting. Thanks to her efforts, United Hebrew boasts one of the lowest staff turnover rates in New York state.
Mabli’s personal experience with healthcare informed her career path. At just 12 years old, she lost her father to a prolonged illness. She never forgot how lovingly his physicians and nurses cared for him and vowed to create a similar culture of kindness and caring, starting at the top.
Last year, United Hebrew marked its 100th anniversary. Mabli has helped ensure that it will help many more older adults and provide robust services in a compassionate environment for many years to come.
