As a chief operating officer of American Health Partners in Franklin, TN, a mother and wife, Robin Bradley definitely has enough to keep her busy. Her colleagues, however, say that she is the kind of leader who has mastered her craft and the ability to juggle all of her roles exceptionally well.
Bradley has coined this work “intentional equilibrium,” another take on the “work-life balance” concept. Instead of trying to devote equal time and attention to the two, she prefers to recognize which “season” she is in — the time of work or for family. If she sees more of a need to focus on family, then she finds family season to be non-negotiable. If she is closing a big deal at work, then she is in a full-throttle work season.
In her role at American Health Partners, Bradley has more than her share of responsibility. She helps to oversee 29 senior living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers; five psychiatric hospitals; nine home health agencies; five hospice offices; and a long-term care pharmacy. As the COO, she ensures proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures and systems to optimize efficiencies.
Colleagues say Bradley demonstrates exemplary respect for her colleagues and has an intense interest in values-in-action in her work. Her sense of duty extends to improving the lives of the residents in AHP facilities.
“I’m passionate about improving access to affordable and convenient healthcare,” she said about her mission.
This past year, Bradley has launched multiple campaigns to recognize the sacrifices made by frontline workers during the pandemic. She and the company’s marketing team launched the “Healthcare Heroes” campaign to encourage participation in COVID-19 testing and the “Healthcare Superheroes” campaign to boost vaccination rates. She also has helped worried families of residents by purchasing tablet computers for their homes so that they could make video calls.
Bradley still was determined to see tangible growth in the company through the past year. Among other projects, she helped its long-term care pharmacy move forward with a new electronic health records system. One of her most notable projects was overseeing the process for 21 nursing homes to meet the standards of Joint Commission accreditation.
