SAN DIEGO — Improved resident quality of life is the goal of a new initiative announced Wednesday by Argentum at the organization’s Senior Living Executive Conference.
“Senior Living IQ offers resources to help providers raise the bar of excellence and commit to quality across their communities,” Argentum President and CEO James Balda said in a statement.
The initiative, which Balda told McKnight’s Senior Living is within the purview of John Schulte, Argentum’s new vice president of quality improvement, includes a website with industry best practices and resources that focus on resident safety, the theme of the first phase of the effort.
As the scope of the program expands, Argentum expects to address other high-risk areas, such as emergency preparedness, medication management and memory care. Ultimately, the Senior Living IQ initiative will involve skills development and certifications for industry professionals.
“This project represents an important step as the senior housing industry recognizes that it needs to not only continue to deliver quality results as we provide much-needed answers to our residents and their families, but we must also come together to set and maintain the highest standards,” said Atria Senior Living Chairman and CEO John Moore, who is chairman of Argentum’s quality improvement committee. The effort’s outcome, he added, “will be better care of seniors and a better seniors housing industry over the long term.”
