EarlySense and healthcare furniture company Herman Miller-Nemschoff have entered into a co-marketing agreement that will allow customers to buy Herman Miller chairs that are pre-enabled to accept EarlySense contact-free sensor-based monitoring.
Several chair models will be available to accept the EarlySense technology. Once enabled, the chairs will allow caregivers the ability to monitor the user’s heart and respiratory rates, status in the chair (in or out) and motion for things such as a chair exit alert.
“Our technology has substantial and growing evidence regarding the impact that continuous, non-contact monitoring is having on avoiding adverse events,” said Tim O’Malley, president of EarlySense. “We believe that expanding into clinical environments where monitoring has not historically been possible due to technological limitations will continue to build evidence around the benefit this combined technology will bring to patient care and outcomes.”
Joel Van Wyk, Nemschoff director of product development, healthcare, added: “The beautiful thing about this technology is that it’s invisible from the patient’s point of view. We strive to give our furniture an inviting, hospitality-style aesthetic, and while EarlySense has advanced clinical capabilities, it doesn’t diminish the comfort, style or durability of our seating.”
