Several senators are calling for a comprehensive look into the challenges facing those who seek affordable seniors housing — and housing overall.

Sens. Angus King (I-ME), Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Todd Young (R-IN) have introduced the Task Force on the Impact of the Affordable Housing Crisis Act.

“It’s clear that we need a better understanding of this crisis in order to make the policy changes necessary to help families succeed,” Young said.

Most notably, the group would make recommendations to Congress on how to use affordable housing to improve other life outcomes for those affected, especially in areas such as nutrition, transportation and education. The group also would assess how current policies and practices undermine life quality for those affected, and how they put additional strains on government resources at the local, state and federal levels.
