Eleanor Feldman Barbera, Ph.D., left, Kimberly Gordy and Matt Bromen will be the speakers at the 2019 McKnight’s Senior Living Online Expo.

Workforce, technology and behavioral health will be the three tracks of the third annual McKnight’s Senior Living Online Expo, set for Thursday, June 20. Attendees can earn up to three continuing education credits by participating in all of the webinars at the free event.

Eleanor Feldman Barbera, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist consulting in long-term care communities, will kick off the educational sessions at 11 a.m. ET with “Behavioral health in senior living: Improving practices, reducing risk.” The webinar will discuss the types of behavioral health problems typically seen in senior living communities, and Barbera will offer behavioral management advice to improve care quality, enhance organizational culture and reduce liability risk.

Kimberly Gordy, an associate at the law firm BakerHostetler and a trained clinical ethicist, will speak at the 1 p.m. ET session in a presentation entitled “Mobile tech: Friend or foe in the senior living workplace?” This webinar will educate attendees about the “3 B’s” of using mobile technology in senior living — Basic Capabilities, Business Associates and Bombshells — and offer a few words of warning.

Matt Bromen, human resources director at Seattle-based Era Living, will discuss “The talent war: 3 strategies for winning In today’s competitive market” at a 2:30 p.m. ET session. He’ll share how the organization is succeeding in recruiting and retaining employees with approaches that prioritize career paths, leadership development and a collaborative culture, all while working to change the reputation of what it means to work in senior living.

The virtual doors to the Online Expo will open at 10:30 a.m. ET with the opportunity for attendees to network with peers and visit the online exhibition hall featuring products and services from companies serving the senior living profession. Webinar participants also will be able to visit the booths before and after the CE sessions.
