McKnight’s Senior Living Editor Lois A. Bowers holds the three awards won in the 2022 Ohio’s Best Journalism Contest sponsored by the Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus chapters of the Society of Professional Journalists. The ceremony was held at The Boat House at Confluence Park in Columbus.

McKnight’s Senior Living earned top awards for its website and editor’s column Saturday in Columbus, OH, as the Society of Professional Journalists chapters in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus recognized the winners in its 2022 Ohio’s Best Journalism Contest.

The brand won a total of three awards:

  • First place in the Best Trade Publication Website category for McKnightsSeniorLiving.com. Named on the award were Editor Lois A. Bowers, Content Editor Kimberly Bonvissuto, Editorial Director John O’Connor, writers Amy Novotney and Kathleen Steele Gaivin, Art Director Mark Speakman, Graphic Designer Aminah Beg and former Special Projects Coordinator Caroline Szachnowski.
  • First place in the Trade Publications – Best Department category, for Bowers’ editor’s column.
  • Second place in the Best of Show – Best Trade Publication Columnist category for Bowers’ writing.

Entries were for work published in 2021. Journalists who work for newspapers, magazines, radio, television, trade, online and college media in Ohio and states that have significant reach into Ohio, as well as freelance journalists, were eligible to submit entries. Entries were judged by the Long Island Press Club.

In 2022, McKnight’s Senior Living has earned 22 awards in various editorial awards competitions. Since 2016, the first year of contest eligibility after the brand expanded from a print magazine to include a website, e-newsletter, social media and more, McKnight’s Senior Living has been recognized for editorial excellence 143 times.
