LTC Properties President, CEO and Chairman Wendy Simpson has been chosen as the second recipient of the McKnight’s Women of Distinction Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award recognizes a woman leader who has made significant contributions in the area of senior living or skilled nursing over the course of a lengthy career.
“We are thrilled to recognize Wendy for this well-deserved honor,” said John O’Connor, editorial director for McKnight’s.
Simpson has been president and CEO of LTC Properties since 2007 and was appointed chairman of the real estate investment trust’s board in 2013. She had been elected to the board in 1995 and joined the company as vice chairman in 2000. Simpson also formerly was chief financial officer of the REIT.
LTC invests in assisted living and skilled nursing real estate through triple-net lease transactions, mortgage loans and other investments. Properties are located in more than half of the states, with the highest concentrations of properties located in Texas, Michigan, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Wisconsin, California, Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky.
Simpson has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare-related businesses. Before joining LTC, she held executive positions in public companies owning and operating long-term acute-care hospitals, home health agencies, acute care hospitals and psychiatric hospitals.
Simpson began her career in public accounting. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University.
The McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards also include Hall of Honor and Rising Stars categories; 2020 honorees recently were announced. All of this year’s awardees will be celebrated at a May 7 dinner in Chicago, which will be followed the next day by the Women of Distinction Forum, a morning of continuing education sessions. Both events are open to everyone.
PointClickCare is the Diamond sponsor of this year’s event, and OnShift and PharMerica are Silver sponsors.
