Residents at Brandywine Living at The Savoy in Little Neck, NY, celebrated National Senior Health and Fitness Day, which was May 30.

The community planned a day filled with mental and physical fitness programs, including a morning comedy show and yoga class hosted by fitness instructor Dawn Trepeta, followed by a meditation healing session led by Robin Gensburg, a family member to resident Susan Levine.

Residents enjoyed smoothies during health screenings provided by Brandywine Living wellness nurses before participating in a session of Zumba, relaxing massages and a health lecture presented by Asif Kallam, wellness director of Brandywine Living.

Active residents were asked for advice on leading a healthy lifestyle during senior years, and residents Estelle Postel and Jean Brennan agreed that regular exercise, not eating between meals and getting lots of fresh air were some of the ways they stay healthy.

“Overall, our residents and team members got fit while having fun,” said Xiomara Encarnacion, Escapades program producer of Brandywine Living at The Savoy, who planned the programming.
