Shannon Radford, wellness director of Presbyterian Village North, educates residents on nutrition.

During National Nutrition Month in March, Presbyterian Village North in Dallas discussed ways that residents could “lighten up” their portion sizes and lead more healthful lifestyles. Shannon Radford, wellness director, hosted weekly educational presentations and discussions to highlight ways in which residents could further enhance their wellness and nutritional choices. Presentations covered topics such as how to differentiate between foods that cause inflammation and anti-inflammatory foods.

“I recommend starting with a smaller portion and tell residents to have seconds if they’re still hungry,” Radford said.

The theme for National Nutrition Month in 2016 was “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right.” “If we take care of our bodies and fuel them with the right energy sources, we will feel healthier as we age,” said Presbyterian Village North Executive Director Ron Kelly.
