Residents and friends of Juniper Village at Brookline’s Wellspring Memory Care in State College, PA, took a virtual trip to the beach last month to celebrate Juniper’s theme for July, “Remaining Relevant Through Technology.”

Wellspring was able to go on a “stay-cation” by using virtual reality goggles showing images of seascapes, as well as listening to a playlist with relaxing ocean waves and aromatherapy scents of citrus, sandalwood and coconut, producing an immersive beach-like environment in the Wellspring courtyard.

Residents enjoyed the opportunity to try the virtual reality goggles.

“I had no idea what to expect, but it was very different and you are transported. It was well worth doing. It’s a great idea to try new technology,” resident Alyce Ritti said.

Juniper resident Betty Majeske added, “It’s fantastic!”
