The Massachusetts Senior Care Foundation recently marked its 30th anniversary with a gala at the Boston Museum of Science. More than 250 guests celebrated the achievements of the foundation and raised more than $270,000 to support its work.
Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Luis Tiant was the featured surprise guest and was joined by American Health Care Association President and CEO Mark Parkinson and Massachusetts Secretary of the Executive Office Elder Affairs Alice Bonner.
The foundation was established in 1985 by leaders of the Massachusetts Senior Care Association to enhance the quality of long-term care services to the state’s older adults and people with disabilities through education, research and quality improvement programs. Over the past 30 years, the program has awarded $2.7 million in scholarships to help 1,500 long-term care staff members achieve their educational and professional goals.
