LeadingAge President and CEO Larry Minnix received the 2015 Sterling Friendship Award from the Friendship Senior Options Foundation on Sept. 25.

“Larry Minnix exemplifies the core values that are fundamental to our mission: benevolence, community engagement and a passionate commitment to the well-being of others,” Stephen Yenchek, Friendship Senior Options Foundation president and CEO, said in a statement. “His contribution to the field of aging services cannot be underestimated, and he is incredibly deserving of this award.”

Sterling Friendship honorees advocate positive perceptions of aging through their actions, demonstrating a history of advancing knowledge and improving the world around them. Prior award winners include Willard Scott, Dr. Joyce Brothers and Art Linkletter as well as community advocates and volunteers who have made their communities a better place to grow old.

“I am honored to receive the Sterling Friendship award and I am humbled to be among such an outstanding group of prior awardees,” Minnix said. “By recognizing leaders in the aging services field, Friendship Senior Options Foundation distinguishes itself as an innovative and forward-thinking organization. I share this honor with all of our LeadingAge members who work every day to expand the world of possibilities for aging.”
