Paul Pecchenino opened a repair shop at O’Connor Woods soon after he and his wife moved to the continuing care retirement / life plan community 24 years ago.
Ever since, he has been repairing residents’ broken items at no charge, using tools he kept after retiring as well as some tools he has accumulated from other residents. He has fixed everything from lamps and clocks to figurines and purse straps.
Now in his 90s, Paul said he hopes to never give up his “fix-it” shop at the community, because he knows how much he has helped residents and staff. He gets joy from seeing their faces light up after an old heirloom they thought was broken is now working again.
