The National Certification Board for Alzheimer Care is offering a new online course for direct care staff who work with those who have Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.

The one-hour “Intro to ADRD for Professional Caregivers” is designed to help direct care staff better understand Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, including how to communicate with residents and their families. It is available at no cost, and staff members may continually refer to it online.

The course, appropriate for those who work in various types of senior living settings, has been approved by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ National Partnership to Improve Dementia Care in Nursing Homes and is being offered through Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes.
