Argentum forms certification commission

Argentum, formerly known as the Assisted Living Federation of America, has formed the Senior Living Certification Commission. Legend Senior Living CEO Tim Buchanan is the commission's first chairman.

The commission, an independent 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization, will offer its first certification program, assessing the knowledge and competence of assisted living community executive directors, beginning in fall 2016. A beta version of the test for certification will be available in early 2016, with the final version of the test launched in the third quarter, Argentum President and CEO James Balda told McKnight's Senior Living.

Development of certification programs for independent living executive directors and memory care will start in 2016, Balda added, although the tests for those programs will not be available until later.

Additional members of the commission will be announced next week.
