Approximately 16% (16.3%) of participants in adult day services in 2016 lived in assisted living communities, according to recently released data from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This compares with:

  • 51.5% who live in private residences with relative(s).
  • 19.9% who live alone in a private residence.
  • 5.3% who live in a private residence with non-relatives.
  • 4.5% who have another living arrangement, and
  • 1.5% live in a nursing home.

The data come from the National Study of Long-Term Care Providers conducted in 2016. Details were shared earlier this year in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
