Fish where the fish are, goes the adage. Similarly, senior living operators may want to build in towns that attract retirees. If WalletHub’s new list of top retirement destinations is to be believed, Florida appears to be a can’t-miss target.

When the counting was done, Florida cities took in five of the list’s top nine spots. They included Orlando (No. 1), Tampa (No. 3), Fort Lauderdale (No. 5), Miami (No. 7) and Cape Coral (No. 9).

WalletHub used 46 metrics to compare more than 180 cities on a retiree-friendliness scale. These included living costs, taxpayer-friendliness and the availability of recreational activities. Full findings are available here.
