McKnight’s Senior Living has won three 2017 Awards for Publication Excellence recognizing its online and print efforts.

The competition’s sponsor, Communication Concepts, announced the winners on Tuesday. The contest recognizes outstanding editorial content, graphic design and overall communications.

Senior Editor Lois A. Bowers and Editorial Director John O’Connor received an Award of Excellence for the brand’s website, McKnightsSeniorLiving.com. Additionally, Bowers was honored for the editor’s column that appears in every print issue. McKnight’s Senior Living also shared an Award of Excellence with sister media brand McKnight’s Long-Term Care News for a technology-related print supplement. Named on that award were O’Connor and freelance writers John Hall and John Andrews.

McKnight’s Long-Term Care News team members collectively won four more awards in this year’s competition, which had almost 1,400 entries across 100 subcategories in 11 categories.

The APEX Awards bring the honors tally to 14 so far this year for McKnight’s Senior Living team members. In 2017, the media brand also was named as having the best healthcare website by the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors and was recognized with four regional and two national awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors as well as two awards from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. Additionally, Bowers won two journalism awards in the 2017 All Ohio Excellence in Journalism competition coordinated by the Press Club of Cleveland.
