For the second time in 2017, McKnight's Senior Living has received top honors for its website in a journalism competition.

The latest recognition came Thursday as the brand received first place in the Best Trade Publication Website category of the Ohio's Best Journalism competition, sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists chapters in Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati.

The contest, also known as the Ohio SPJ Awards, celebrates professional journalists who work in, or whose work reaches, the Buckeye State via the trade press, newspapers, TV, radio and digital media. This year's entries were judged by the Long Island Press Club.

Honored for their work on the website were Senior Editor Lois A. Bowers, Editorial Director John O'Connor and Art Director Mark Speakman.

McKnight's Senior Living also was lauded for its website earlier this year, earning the Gold Award in April in the Best Website/Online Presence of a Publication category of the national competition held by the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors.

In the Ohio SPJ Awards announced Thursday, the brand also won top honors in two other categories and received a total of four awards. In addition to the website award, the brand took first place in the Trade Publications – Best Department category for the Editor's Column written by Bowers, first place in the Digital Media – Best Headline Writing category for a collection of six headlines from McKnightsSeniorLiving.com, and second place in the Best of Show – Trade Publications – Best Trade Columnist category for Bowers' work.

The Ohio SPJ Awards will be presented Aug. 26 at a ceremony at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH.

Column and headline writing as well as other editorial efforts also were recognized with the 14 other awards that McKnight's Senior Living staff members have won to date this year related to the brand's website and print magazine. Previous 2017 honors came from the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors, the American Society of Business Publication Editors, Communications Concepts, the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals and the Press Club of Cleveland.
