Ascension Living names Christopher Caserta CEO
Christopher Caserta has been named CEO of St. Louis-based Ascension Living.
Caserta is a senior living and healthcare services veteran with more than 20 years of experience in regional and national health systems and long-term care organizations. Previously, he was the vice president of strategy and marketing in the continuing care division at Trinity Health.
Caserta received his undergraduate degree in biomedical science from Ohio University and a Master of Science in integrated marketing communications from West Virginia University.
UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation names Kelli Smith president and CEO
Kelli Smith has been named president and CEO of the United Methodist Retirement Communities-Porter Hills Foundation, the fundraising arm of Brio Living Services.
Smith comes to the foundation with more than 25 years of philanthropic experience in healthcare, education, aquariums, zoos and botanical garden sectors. She most recently served on John Ball Zoo’s executive team as chief development and engagement officer.
CJE SeniorLife names Stacey Turner CFO
Stacey Turner has been named CJE SeniorLife’s next chief financial officer.
After a 30-year finance corporate career with General Electric, Turner made an intentional shift to the nonprofit sector. For the past five years, she has served as the CFO of Chicago Children’s Museum.
Turner is a graduate of Indiana University with an undergraduate degree in business, and she earned an MBA from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
Erickson Senior Living promotes Holly Henderson to regional VP of sales
Holly Henderson has been promoted to regional vice president of sales at Erickson Senior Living.
For the past 12 years, Henderson has been the sales director at Ashby Ponds, an Erickson community in Ashburn, VA. From 2004 to 2011, she was the director of healthcare sales at Greenspring, another Erickson community, in Springfield, VA.
Henderson holds an undergraduate degree in health services administration from James Madison University.
NIC announces role change for Beth Burnham Mace
Longtime Chief Economist Beth Burnham Mace is transitioning at the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care to the role of consultant and special adviser. She will be focused exclusively on monitoring and reporting changes in the economy and the capital markets affecting senior housing and care investments and operations.
Mace has made numerous contributions to NIC during her nine-year tenure on the leadership team, including leading hundreds of webinars, conference and board presentations, and research projects.
Before joining the NIC staff in 2014, she served as a member of the NIC Board of Directors and chaired its research committee. She also was a director at AEW Capital Management and worked in the AEW Research Group for 17 years.
Before joining AEW, Mace spent 10 years at Standard & Poor’s DRI/McGraw-Hill as director of its regional information service. She also worked as a regional economist at Crocker Bank and for the National Commission on Air Quality, the Brookings Institution and Boston Edison.
Mace is a member of the Institutional Real Estate Americas Editorial Advisory Board. In 2020, she was inducted into the McKnight’s Women of Distinction Hall of Honor.
Village at Rancho Solano names Agustin Samaniego executive director
Agustin Samaniego has been named executive director of The Village at Rancho Solano, a Pegasus Senior Living community in Fairfield, CA.
Samaniego has been working in assisted living and memory care since 2008. He started as a business office manager at a Brookdale Senior Living community, where he later became executive director. He obtained his administrator’s license soon after entering the senior living field. Before senior living, Samaniego worked in the real estate and hotel industries.
Barclay Friends appoints Kelly McCool as senior director of admissions and marketing
Kelly McCool has been appointed the new senior director of admissions and marketing at Barclay Friends, a Kendal Corp. affiliate in West Chester, PA.
McCool’s past experience comes from a national nonprofit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs. She has worked as an admissions manager and an admissions and utilization review manager.
McCool holds an undergraduate degree in business and psychology from Albright College.
Anthem appoints Juanita Brown as community relations director for Colorado community
Juanita Brown has been named community relations director for Chelsea Place, an Anthem Memory Care community in Aurora, CO.
Brown previously was regional sales director for Bonaventure Senior Living for Colorado, Oregon and Washington. She also was regional sales director for Columbia River Home Health in Kennewick, WA.
Brown brings more than 20 years of senior living and sales support experience to this position. She is a dementia certified practitioner.
Grow Your Occupancy names Dani Merlino VP of strategic development
Dani Merlino has been named vice president of strategic development at Grow Your Occupancy.
Merlino’s 20 years in the senior living industry spans operations, sales and marketing roles from community relations director to vice president of sales and operations. She has spent time at Jaybird Senior Living, Five Star Senior Living, Provision Living, Peterson Health Care and Lutheran Life Communities.
