The health of your residents may be influenced by which state you are in, according to an annual report issued by United Health Foundation and the American Public Health Association.

The nation's healthiest residents can be found in Hawaii, the study notes. The next four healthiest states are Vermont, Massachusetts, Minnesota and New Hampshire.

Louisiana was cited as the state with the unhealthiest residents. Mississippi, Arkansas, West Virginia and Alabama rounded out the laggards list.
