Oklahoma City, OK, tops the SeniorAdvice.com list of best cities for older adults.

Don’t look to the West or Southwest if you’re seeking the top 10 best cities for older adults, according to SeniorAdvice.com.

The list by the Austin, TX-based website, which is designed to help older adults locate independent living, assisted living, memory care support and other options for seniors housing, is based on more than 100 variables compiled and scored by its SeniorScore system. The system considers health and safety, recreation and leisure, finance and general quality of life and, in addition to providing an overall score also identifies a score for each of the categories.

“This system not only assigns a numeric senior livability grade for cities in America, but for states and zip codes as well,” said SeniorAdvice.com CEO and Founder Ryan Patterson. “We also have plans to expand the index to rank individual senior living facilities, and it will eventually include international destinations.”

Six of the top 10 cities on the website’s list are in the South, three are in the Midwest and one is in the Northeast.

The list:

  1. Oklahoma City
  2. Austin, TX
  3. Pittsburgh
  4. Louisville, KY
  5. Ft. Worth, TX
  6. Richmond, VA
  7. St. Louis
  8. Omaha, NE
  9. Cincinnati
  10. San Antonio
