Survey reveals popular HCBS offerings

Providers offering home and community-based services tend to be much larger than those that do not, according to preliminary findings of a pilot survey of LeadingAge members in Connecticut, Kansas and Washington.

The survey, conducted in 2015, also found:

  • Transportation, home care and adult day services are the most common types of services offered by survey respondents.
  • Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and palliative care/hospice make up the most common suite of services offered by providers who offer HCBS.
  • Meals on Wheels, infusion therapy and legal services are infrequent offerings.

LeadingAge said it will begin a national survey to all of its members soon. It will help the organization determine whether the preliminary findings reflect the actions of all members, Linda Hermer, managing director of research and senior research scientist at the LeadingAge Center for Applied Research, said on the LeadingAge website. More information about the study can be found there.
