State officials are investigating the way residents were evacuated from two senior living communities during a wildfire in northern California.

Information unearthed during a routine review of more than 100 affected senior living communities led to the new inquiries, according to regulators. The two facilities, Varenna and Villa Capris, are run by Oakmont Management Group of Windsor, CA. Neither community has reported any injuries or deaths tied to the fires.

California currently is experiencing its deadliest wildfires ever. Dozens of people have died, and more than 50 were still unaccounted for Thursday, whereas more than 6,000 homes have been destroyed. The elderly account for many of the deaths so far, according to published reports.

State Sen. Mike McGuire (D-Healdsburg) tweeted Sunday that damages have already exceeded $3 billion.

“Unfortunately, estimates are expected to grow this week,” he added.
