Leanne Fiet named COO of Piper Shores

Leanne Fiet has been named the first chief operating officer of Piper Shores, a lifecare retirement community in Scarborough, ME. In her new role, Fiet will provide operational support to the CEO and assume oversight for Piper Shores’ operations, including facilities, environmental services and food and nutrition.

Fiet brings more than three decades of experience in senior care management, acute care and residential care special needs. She most recently was administrator at Parker Monroe, a nonprofit senior living and memory care community.

CEO Jim Adamowicz welcomed Fiet in a letter, which said she is “a well experienced executive leader [with] more than 20 years of senior care experience,” including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing care and memory support care residences.

Fiet has an undergraduate degree in special education and teaching from Hope College and a master’s degree in human services administration from Rider University.

Molly Forrest named chair of LeadingAge California

Molly Forrest, CEO-president of the Los Angeles Jewish Home, has been named chair-elect of LeadingAge California. Her two-year term begins July 1.

Forrest has served on the LeadingAge California board since 2009, most recently as vice chair. LeadingAge California is one of the largest state affiliates of the national LeadingAge organization, representing almost 600 members statewide who together serve more than 100,000 California older adults.

She has spent more than 22 years overseeing growth and revitalization at the Jewish Home. An advocate for equity and excellence in senior care, Forrest is an in-demand guest speaker on geriatric issues for leading healthcare, eldercare and nonprofit organizations in California and across the country.

She previously served as chair of the Association of Jewish Aging Services, on the California State University Northridge Professional Health Care Administration Committee, on the CAL-PACE Board of Directors and on the LeadingAge CA Strategic Planning Committee.

Forrest is a graduate of Oregon State University and a recipient of an honorary doctorate from American Jewish University.

Adam Marles named president and CEO of LeadingAge Pennsylvania 

Adam Marles has been named the next president and CEO of LeadingAge Pennsylvania. He will succeed Ron Barth, who will retire June 30 after almost 30 years of service.

Eva Bering will serve as interim CEO until Marles begins his tenure on Aug. 20. She is in her second six-year term as a LeadingAge PA board member and currently is the board secretary.

Marles joins LeadingAge PA from Phoebe-Devitt Homes, where he served as senior vice president for advancement and strategic initiatives and corporate compliance officer. Before joining Phoebe in 2012, he spent a decade in fundraising positions and as a practicing attorney with the regional law firm Stevens & Lee.

The new CEO has an undergraduate degree in English from Muhlenberg College, a master’s in public communication from American University and a law degree from the Temple University Beasley School of Law.

Matt Calfee named resident care director at The Pointe at Lifespring

Matt Calfee has been named resident care director at The Pointe at Lifespring Senior Living, a luxury senior living community operated by Integral Senior Living in Knoxville, TN. In his new role, he will ensure all residents receive appropriate wellness care and assistance with daily living activities, as well as implement and oversee medication programs and policies.

Calfee brings more than 15 years of healthcare experience and is an LPN who joined the community’s nursing staff last year. He previously worked as an EMT and for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office as a special operations medic and nurse.

“He brings a great deal of health care experience, compassion and dedication to our mission in his new role,” said Shana Robertson, executive director for The Pointe at Lifespring.

Morgan Noll named fitness specialist at Friendship Village

Morgan Noll is the new fitness specialist at Friendship Village, a life plan community in Schaumburg, IL.

In her new role, Noll leads water- and land-based classes, one of which being the Forever Fit aerobics program. Noll, along with team members Crista Adams and Julie Hubbard, makes sure there is a variety of offerings each month.

A former physical and occupational therapy technician, Noll has experience working with seniors. She has a master’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis on exercise physiology from Northern Illinois University.

Werner G. Nistler Jr., Touchmark founder, wins Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 Award from EY

Werner G. Nistler Jr. received the Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 Award in the Lifetime Entrepreneur category in the Pacific Northwest by EY, an assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services firm. The award recognizes entrepreneurs who are excelling in areas such as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

Nistler is the founder and chairman of Touchmark, which builds and operates full-service retirement communities. For 35 years, he also served as CEO.

As a Pacific Northwest award winner, Nistler now is eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 National Awards.

Lee S. Wielansky, Brookdale board chairman, honored with the Eads Award

Lee S. Wielansky, non-executive chairman of Brookdale Senior Living’s Board of Directors, has been honored with the Eads Award by the Missouri Growth Association. The award is in recognition of his significant contributions to the state’s real estate and development industry.

Wielansky has more than 40 years of commercial real estate investment, management and development experience. He currently serves as chairman and CEO of both the Midland Development Group and Opportunistic Equities. Wielansky is a member of the Strategic Development Board at the University of Missouri’s College of Business.

“This is a spotlight award, given each year to a pioneer in the development industry,” said Megan Werner, executive vice president of the Missouri Growth Association. “Mr. Wielansky is a great example of someone who dedicated his career to real estate development and the advancement of Missouri. He was involved in starting several industry related associations and continues to invest in our state.”
