Residents from Sodalis Senior Living communities throughout Texas are giving back to their greater communities through their monthly “Random Acts of Kindness” events. Every month, each Sodalis community contributes to a local organization of their choice.

“The Random Acts of Kindness events each month benefit both our residents and those we are reaching out to who are in need,” Sodalis CEO Shawn Corzine said. “Our residents often say how much it means to them to have a sense of charity and have the ability to give back in some way each month at their community.”

Last month, Sodalis at Garden Ridge residents near San Antonio created “superhero tie pillows” for the Garden Ridge Police and Fire departments to give to kids when they are responding to 911 calls. In addition, the Stone Oak residents baked cookies and put them in decorated containers for local fire departments.

Sodalis Victoria prepared donations — such as toiletries, cleaning and kitchen supplies, mops, towels, bed sheets and party decorations — for children affected by Hurricane Harvey, in partnership with local organization, Perpetual Help Home, which assists women and children in breaking the cycle of incarceration and homelessness.

Valiente Senior Living in the Greater Houston area donated items to children of families who are displaced, homeless or impoverished with the Star of Hope organization, a group that helps support homeless families. Additionally, the Waco, TX, community made fleece blankets for The Children’s Hospital in Temple, TX.

Sodalis New Braunfels residents made gift bags containing scarves, puzzle books, pens, candy and lip balms for patients with cancer and for the Cancer Center of New Braunfels. Another community, Sodalis Buda, near Austin, TX, created “Blessing Bags” for homeless people and nursing home residents throughout the area.
