The John Knox Village "Holly" villa.

Orange City, FL-based management and consulting firm Riverwood Retirement Management plans to add 40 duplexes to the villas at John Knox Village of central Florida.

The $12-million project will be built on 17.5 acres of tree-lined property contiguous to the senior living community. The first resident is expected to move in fall of 2016.

“We have a tremendous need for additional villas, and we are excited to incorporate many amenities and details suggested by our very own residents,” said Joe Rudolph, director of planning and development of John Knox Village.

The new villas will have high-pitched roofs and front stone features. Inside, they will contain 1,900 square feet of living space with three bedrooms and two baths, or 1,700 square feet of living space with two bedrooms and two baths. The villas will feature 12-foot coffered and tray ceilings throughout the residence, crown molding, French doors, a Roman shower, an open floor plan and custom options such as a wet bar and various paint options and window treatments.

As the management company, Riverwood has played a role in the design of the project and is overseeing every aspect of the new development. John Knox Village will act as the contractor for the entire project; its debt-free status allows flexibility by funding the project without financing from an outside lender.
