Real estate brokerage Redfin has released a list of the top 10 best cities where technology enables residents to remain at home instead of moving to an assisted living community.

To come up with the “The 10 Best Cities for Technology – Assisted Living” list, Redfin first identified which cities are served by Uber, Rover, Porch, Instacart and Carelinx. Those companies provide services such as transportation, pet care, housekeeping, meals and basic medical care. Next, Redfin calculated what the median monthly mortgage payment would be in those cities and compared with the average monthly fee for assisted living in those cities.

The cities that made the top 10 list are places where seniors (or those who care for them) would have at least $1,500 each month to spend for the aforementioned services.

The top 10 list:

  1. Washington, D.C.
  2. Philadelphia
  3. Chicago
  4. Austin, Texas
  5. Houston
  6. Boston
  7. Miami
  8. Denver
  9. Atlanta
  10. Portland, Oregon
