Independent living, assisted living and life plan communities (also known as continuing care retirement communities, or CCRCs) were among the 55+ housing types recognized Friday as the winners of the National Association of Home Builders’ 2021 Best of 55+ Housing Awards were announced during an online presentation.

The ceremony honors excellence and innovation in the design, development, lifestyle and marketing of communities and homes that appeal to the mature market.

Some of the award winners in the competition are listed below.

Best 55+ Assisted Living or Special Needs Community

Gold: The Colonnade, SunHealth Communities, Surprise, AZ. The builder was Sundt Construction, the architect was Todd & Associates, and the interior designer was Thoma-Holec Design.

Silver: Longleaf at Liberty Park, Vestavia Hills, AL. The developer was Braemar Partners, the builder was Robins & Morton, and the architect was Niles Bolton Associates, the interior designer was Faulkner Design Group, the land planner was Niles Bolton Associates, and the landscape architect/designer was Niles Bolton Associates.

Silver: Watercrest Naples, Watercrest Senior Living, Naples, FL. The developer was Watercrest Development, the builder was Walker and Co., the architect was D2 Architecture, the interior designer was Interior Design Associates, the interior merchandiser was Interior Design Associates, the marketing firm was Watercrest Senior Living Group, the land planner was D2 Architecture, and the landscape architect/designer was Juniper Landscaping.

Best 55+ Independent Living Community

Gold: Taiping Parasol Tree Community, Pudong District, Shanghai. The developer was Taiping Senior Living Investments, the builder was Taiping Life Insurance Co., and the architect was Dahlin Group Architecture Planning.

Silver: Revel Vegas, Las Vegas. The developer was The Wolff Co., the builder was Picerne Construction, the architect was Todd & Associates, and the interior designer was Private Label International.

Best 55+ Life Plan Community

Gold: The Club at Briarcliff Manor, a Senior Lifestyle community in Briarcliff Manor, NY. The developer was Senior Lifestyle Corp., the builder was Andron Construction, the architect was Perkins Eastman, the interior designer was Interior Design Associates, the interior merchandiser was Interior Design Associates, the marketing firm was Senior Lifestyle Corp., the landscape architect/designer was Dirtworks Landscape Architecture, and the green verifier/rater company was Home Innovation Research Labs.

Silver: Ventana by Buckner, Buckner Senior Living, Dallas. The developer was Buckner Senior Living, the builder was the Whiting-Turner Contracting Co., the architect was D2 Architecture, the interior designer was Interior Design Associates, the interior merchandiser was Interior Design Associates, the marketing Firm was Ventana by Buckner, the land planner was D2 Architecture, and the landscape architect/designer was Talley & Associates.
