Please submit your column ideas to Editor Lois A. Bowers. Should you have any questions, please contact her after reading the guidelines provided below.

McKnight’s Senior Living welcomes guest columns from industry thought leaders about issues affecting the industry.

Submissions must be relevant to owners, operators and others whose work is in or related to independent living, assisted living, memory care or continuing care retirement communities / life plan communities.

Submissions must be original and exclusive to McKnight’s Senior Living. In submitting a column to McKnight’s Senior Living, you are indicating that it has not been published anywhere else, including internally, and will not be published anywhere else.

Contributors are welcome to share a brief description and link to their pieces on the McKnight’s Senior Living website after publication, and they are welcome to share a link via social media.

Columns should not focus on promoting a particular company or product / service, but rather should share thought leadership.

Guest columns typically are in the 500- to 700-word range, but flexibility exists to enable authors to express their messages.

As we are not an academic journal, we typically prefer that references (if any) be worked into columns, with links provided, rather than listed at the end of a column. Please cite / link to only reputable sources.

Submissions will be edited for clarity, grammar and punctuation, where necessary, and to adhere to McKnight’s Senior Living style.

We require high-quality color headshots of all authors for publication with their columns. Resolution should be 300 dpi; jpegs, tiffs and pngs are the preferred formats.

We accept submissions on a rolling basis and are happy to work with authors’ schedules as to timing of submission. Please note that guest columns and marketplace columns each are published online once a week. Some columns subsequently are published in our print magazine, which is published six times a year.

Guest and marketplace columns are editorial content. We do not pay for, nor do we charge for publication of, submissions.
