Riddle Village appoints Kimberly Foster-Roguszewski president and CEO

Kimberly Foster-Roguszewski has been hired by Riddle Village Retirement Community, Media, PA, as president and CEO, following the retirement of Robert G. Bertolette on June 30. 

For the past 26 years, she has held a variety of titles at the company and most recently was the executive vice president.

Goodwin House hires Xan Smith as new chief financial officer

Xan Smith has joined Goodwin House, Alexandria, VA, as chief financial officer. He will succeed Richard T. Carter, who is retiring after 12 years. Smith will begin his new role Aug. 30.

Smith previously served as CFO for Moorings Park of Naples, FL, and Blue Skies of Texas of San Antonio, TX. At Moorings Park, he was in charge of all financial-related events and transactions for five 501(c)(3) corporations, as well as for securing funding for expansion projects. He also was responsible for managing the company’s information technology and central purchasing departments. At Blue Skies of Texas, Smith oversaw all financial events and transactions for seven 501(c)(3) corporations, as well as led the strategy and funding for a $150 million expansion and repositioning project. 

Smith also previously was senior vice president of Herbert J. Sims & Co., where he  was lead investment banker on tax-exempt financings across the Southwest United States and also facilitated financing for senior living and healthcare organizations.

Smith holds an undergraduate degree in management, with an emphasis in accounting and finance, from Wittenberg University, Springfield, OH, and has served on many state-level nonprofit boards of healthcare and childrens’ services organizations. He currently serves as the board treasurer of Covenant Care.

Cadence Living adds Caitlin Van der Schaaf as VP of operations in Northwest

Caitlin Van der Schaaf has joined the corporate management team of Cadence Living, Scottsdale, AZ, as vice president of operations for the Northwest region. 

In this role, she will have principal responsibility over operations of the company-managed communities in the Pacific Northwest. Van der Schaaf has worked in senior living for more than two decades. Before joining Cadence, she served in a regional operations role with Frontier Management.

Van der Schaaf holds a degree in healthcare administration, with an emphasis on long-term care, from Oregon State University. 

Springpoint Living at Manalapan hires two

Chris Slavicek and Allison Nappi are coming aboard to Springpoint Living at Manalapan, Manalapan, NJ, as executive director and sales counselor, respectively. The new facility is set to open in the fall.

In his role as executive director, Slavicek will be in charge of directing community operations, such as planning and development, and ensuring the highest degree of quality care for the residents. He has more than 15 years of experience, including holding executive leadership positions. Most recently, Slavicek was senior administrator for a new East Brunswick-area assisted living and memory care community. There, he facilitated the move of more than 60 residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In her new role as sales counselor, Nappi will be responsible for selling Springpoint Living at Manalpan’s assisted living and memory care residences, facilitating move-ins for residents and representing the community during the sales process.

New Dawn Memory Care names Susan Morris executive director

Susan Morris has joined New Dawn Memory Care, Colorado Springs, CO, as executive director. She brings 16 years of experience as an executive director in the healthcare industry to her new role.  

Morris has an undergraduate degree in psychology from California State University, Fullerton. She also earned two master’s degrees, one in gerontology and the other in organizational development and human resources, from University of San Francisco. Additionally, she is a certified senior living administrator and a certified dementia specialist.

When not working, Morris volunteers and participates in the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Anthem Memory Care names Evonne Schlobohm community relations director

Evonne Schlobohm has joined Anthem Memory Care of Lake Oswego, OR, as community relations director, specifically for Cascade Creek, a new community scheduled to open this summer in Rochester, MN.

In her new role, Schlobohm will be in charge of community outreach and marketing. Most recently, she was sales and marketing director for Prairie Meadows Senior Living. She holds an associate of applied science degree from Rochester Community and Technical College. 

Gayco Healthcare welcomes Michael Holtzclaw to the team

Michael Holtzclaw has joined Gayco Healthcare, Alpharetta, GA, as director of pharmacy engagement.

In his new role, Holtzclaw will mostly be responsible for the South Carolina region, with a secondary focus on other operation areas. He is a 10-year Navy veteran and has an array of sales and operational skills gathered from 18 years of direct senior living experience on community, regional and corporate levels.

Holtzclaw has an administrator’s license for South Carolina. He aims to help the company “make life better” by giving optimal pharmacy services to both current and new partners.

G5 welcomes Steve Wright as sales director for senior living

Steve Wright has joined marketing firm G5 of Bend, OR, as sales director for senior living. 

In this role, Wright will be responsible for client expansion and new client acquisition, as well as sales growth in the nonprofit sector. In the latter capacity, Wright will work with the company’s nonprofit partners to shape digital marketing strategy, analyze performance and provide a seamless customer experience.

For the past three decades, Wright has worked in the senior housing field, both as a provider and consultant to owners and operators. Most recently, he led sales, marketing and technology initiatives for providers such as Leisure Care and Transforming Age. 

BKV Group hires David Banta as senior living practice leader

David Banta, AIA, Trace Jacques, AIA, CID, and Collin Koonce, LA, LEED AP BD+C have been hired by the BKV Group

Banta will join as senior living practice leader and associate partner for the Washington D.C., location. He will be responsible for expanding the company’s senior living portfolio and designing spaces to meet the specific needs of older adults.

Banta has more than 35 years of experience, having applied his skills and talents to a variety of properties built and designed for older adults, such as independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care communities, active adult developments and affordable senior housing.

Banta also presents often to national and international audiences via myriad speaking engagements and is an active participant in the AIA Design for Aging Knowledge Community, Environments for Aging Conference and American Seniors Housing Association. He has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech.

Jacques will join the Minneapolis practice site as partner and senior design leader, with an emphasis on hospitality, and Koonce has been hired as urban designer, landscape architecture discipline lead and associate partner in the Dallas practice site.He has designed a variety of public and private exterior spaces over a 12-year career.

Plunkett Raysich Architects announces expansion

Ken Turba, AIA, NCARB, is the first hire in the Austin, TX, office of Milwaukee-based Plunkett Raysich Architects. Truba has more than 15 years of experience helping clients solve their business needs. 

Initially, PRA will be co-located in Austin in Practice Design Group’s office located at 311 Canyon Wren Drive in Buda, TX. PDG and PRA have worked together since 2012, forming a strategic partnership and providing full-service design solutions to dental specialists nationwide.

The firm will also provide architectural planning and design services to clients in senior living, healthcare, religious, residential, corporate, commercial, education, federal, civic and hospitality facilities.
