Cogir Management USA names David Eskenazy CEO
David Eskenazy has been named CEO of Seattle-based Cogir Management USA.
Eskanazy begins this role as the company expands, recently having added five buildings formerly operated by Sunrise Senior Living. Further management agreements and development plans also are being created.
He joined the company as chairman of the board, a new position, in 2019.
Cogir Management USA was formed in late 2018 as a result of the formation of a joint venture with real estate investment trust Welltower in conjunction with the acquisition of 12 communities purchased from Brookdale Senior Living.
Eskenazy had recently retired, having last served as president of Merrill Gardens, and he previously was the chief financial officer for Aegis Living. Prior to that, he spent 20 years with RC Hedreen, a Seattle-based hotel development company, and for 16 years was a member of the board of directors for Outerwall, parent company for Redbox and Coinstar, before its acquisition by Apollo.
Former Aegis CFO Wally Jossart was named president at Cogir at the same time Eskanazy joined. Jossart will remain president while also taking on the title of chief operating officer.
Five Star COO Margaret Wigglesworth announces retirement
Margaret Wigglesworth retired Nov. 22 as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Five Star Senior Living, Newton, MA, but will be an employee through Dec. 31, the company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Wigglesworth joined the company in August 2019 with almost three decades of management experience. She led the company’s operations and directed various aspects of its administrative functions.
Before joining Five Star, Wiggleworth held leadership roles at the International Council of Shopping Centers, Cresa and Colliers International Group.
Sunrise Senior Living announces new chief clinical officer
Paula Adams has joined Sunrise Senior Living, McLean, VA, as chief clinical officer.
In her new role, Adams will be in charge of the company’s clinical operations, including leading care and wellness programs, clinical informatics and clinical education.
Adams has more than three decades of experience in healthcare management settings. Before joining Sunrise, she was chief clinical officer at Senior Lifestyle Corp. There, she was responsible for all clinical operations, spanning 180 communities, and provided assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing services in addition to overseeing the company’s compliance and programming teams.
Adams is a registered nurse. She received her master’s degree from Northwestern University.
Rosecastle Management welcomes Avi Elias as divisional VP of operations
Avi Elias has joined Rosecastle Management as divisional vice president of operations. He will work closely with Chantal Aube, president of Rosecastle Management.
In this role, Elias will oversee daily operations of six assisted living and memory care communities in Florida. He has more than 25 years of experience in the senior living field. Past roles have included executive director for The Residence at Timber Pines and vice president of regional operations at NeuroInternational Healthcare.
Elias has a master’s degree in health service administration from the University of Arizona and is a certified assisted living administrator. He also is a licensed nursing home administrator in Florida.
Morning Pointe hires three executive directors
Cristy Winkler, Holly Smarr and Debra Calle have been announced as executive directors of Morning Pointe communities.
Winkler joins Morning Pointe of Richmond, Richmond, KY, where she will oversee daily operations at the personal care senior living campus. She has more than 30 years of experience in skilled nursing as well as personal care. She holds an undergraduate degree in nursing from Eastern Kentucky University.
Smarr is the new executive director of The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center for Excellence, Clinton, TN. In this capacity, she will oversee daily operations at the memory care campus. Smart has 12 years of experience in senior living and formerly was the Alzheimer’s programming director at The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence in Knoxville, TN, for more than years. While serving in that role, she also became a certified dementia practitioner.
Calle is executive director at Morning Pointe of Danville, KY. She will oversee daily operations at the senior living campus, including personal care and Alzheimer’s memory care. She joins Morning Pointe with 12 years of senior healthcare experience, starting her career in sales for a Colorado-based senior living community before serving in an executive director position, which she held across many states.
Bridges by EPOCH at Trumbull names Susan Duignan senior adviser
Susan Duignan has been named senior adviser at Bridges by EPOCH at Trumbull, a memory care assisted living community in Trumbull, CT.
In her new position, Duignan will provide support, education and resources to local families affected by memory loss. She also will help ease the transition to memory care assisted living and work with senior services professionals to find the best care solutions for their clients living with memory loss.
