Affiliate of Sage Healthcare Partners purchases bankrupt Michigan CCRC for $76.3M

Dearborn, MI-based continuing care retirement community Henry Ford Village announced late Thursday that it had received a successful bid from HFV OPCO LLC, a newly formed affiliate of Sage Healthcare Partners during its recent court-supervised sale process. The transaction is subject to bankruptcy court approval, as well as regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

Nursing homes lose 19,000 jobs in April: BLS

The healthcare sector lost approximately 4,100 jobs overall in April, an unwelcome sign as the economy continues recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to new data released Friday from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Nursing homes lost about 19,500 jobs last month, compared with 3,200 jobs lost the month prior. Nursing home losses were offset in the sector by notable gains in ambulatory service jobs, which were up 21,000.

Occupancy at U.S. skilled nursing facilities increased to 71.2% in February, as reported by the latest monthly skilled nursing data released Thursday from the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care. SNF occupancy had reached a record low of 70.7% in January, according to NIC MAP data prepared and released by NIC MAP Vision.
