Brookdale names new senior VP, chief accounting officer

Dawn Kussow has been promoted to senior vice president and chief accounting officer at Brookdale Senior Living, the company announced in a Jan. 28 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The promotion was effective Jan. 25.

A certified public accountant, Kussow joined the company in 2007 and since that time has served as director of financial reporting, senior director of financial reporting, vice president — financial reporting, and vice president – corporate controller. In her new role, she succeeds Kristin Ferge, former executive vice president, chief accounting officer and treasurer, who is transitioning to a new role focusing on the company's service alignment, pricing and other corporate initiatives.

“Ms. Ferge's transition and Ms. Kussow's promotion are part of an ongoing organizational assessment conducted in connection with the changes to the company's executive leadership team announced on November 2, 2015,” the company said in the filing.
