Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society elects new president and CEO

Nathan Schema will succeed Randy Bury as president and CEO of The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, Sioux Falls, SD.

Schema will fully assume this position effective Jan. 1. Bury’s retirement is effective Dec. 31. 

Schemamost recently was vice president of operations, where he oversaw operations in the company’s 22-state footprint.

Vincentian appoints president and CEO

Dean Owrey is the new president and CEO at Vincentian, Pittsburgh, as of Nov. 1.

Owrey joined the company in February 2020 as chief financial officer and has more than 30 years of strategic leadership experience. He has drive a digital transformation in finance as well as supported major organization-wide initiatives during the pandemic, according to the company.

Before joining Vincentian, he served as vice president and chief financial officer at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He also has held an array of board member positions, including treasurer for the American Red Cross, Southwestern PA Chapter.

Heather Tussing has been promoted to chief operations officer by Morning Pointe Senior Living, Chattanooga, TN. 

Before her promotion, Tussing was executive vice president of operations for the company. She was at the center of various sales, operations and compliance roles in the senior living realm for the past 20 years. 

Tussing is a certified dementia practitioner and licensed assisted living facility administrator and preceptor.

Elizabeth Wheatley, RN, and Kristine Martel have joined Benchmark Senior Living, Waltham, MA.

Wheatley will serve as vice president of resident care and has more than 30 years of experience in the senior living field, with almost 20 years with Five Star Senior Living. Most recently, she was vice president of health and wellness, a position in which she designed and managed resident service programs and oversaw their COVID-19 clinical response. She is an advisory board member of the National Center for Assisted Living.

Martel will serve as vice president of human resources. She spent 25 years at Tufts Health Plan, where she implemented talent management and continuous change initiatives to foster trust in employees. She has helped create diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

Civitas Senior Living hires Melissa Nix as new executive director

Melissa Nix has joined Double Creek, a Civitas Senior Living community in Round Rock, TX, as executive director. 

In this role, Nix will oversee all daily operations and team management. During her 20-plus years of working in the senior living industry, Nix has served in many capacities including assisted living director, independent living program director and sales specialist. 

Cypress Cove welcomes Jennifer Benton as public relations manager

Jennifer Benton has joined Cypress Cove , Fort Myers, FL, as public relations manager.

In her new role, Benton will manage media relations and other strategic communications for the company. She also will support the company’s affiliated organizations, Cypress at Home and Cypress Living.

Benton has more 20 years of marketing experience in senior living, hospitals, ophthalmology and telemedicine. She is an active member of the Florida Public Relations Association and is president-elect of the Southwest Florida chapter.

Former Brookdale EVP Cindy Kent now COO at Everly Health

Cindy R. Kent, former executive vice president and president of senior living at Brookdale Senior Living, has been named chief operating officer at Austin, TX-based digital health company Everly Health.

Prior to Brookdale, Kent was president and general manager of 3M’s global infection prevention division, where she led business growth and improved financial and operational performance for a $1.7 billion division across 170 countries. Before joining 3M in 2013, she led the gastroenterology and urology therapies division at Medtronic and spent 15 years at pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly & Co. 

Kent also is on the board of directors of cloud-based personalized healthcare provider Accolade and previously was on the board of directors at Best Buy as the retailer made inroads into its consumer health strategy. She is a Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute and sits on the board of trustees for her alma mater, Vanderbilt University.

JSA Design hires three to its design and planning team

Daniel Lamb, Luke Perczak and Alexandria Conrad have been hired by JSA Design, Portsmouth, NH, to serve on its design and planning team. 

Lamb has more than 25 years experience in the realm of architecture and construction administration. He is a green building expert, returning to JSA after working in architecture firms in Newburyport and Lowell, MA. In his new role, Lamb collaborates on projects spanning from drawings to construction. 

Before joining JSA, Perczak interned at Utile in Boston and Nelson Edwards Co. Architects LLC in Branford, CT. Perczak helped coordinate residential projects including schematic design, design development and construction. 

Before joining JSA, Conrad interned at Perron Construction Co. in Manheim, PA. She was a member of Tulane Women in Architecture while a student at Tulane University.

OnShift names Mike DiComes as senior vice president of customer success

Mike DiComes has joined OnShift, Cleveland, as senior vice president of customer success. 

DiComes has more than 20 years of experience leading global functions and multi-disciplined teams with a focus on enhancing the customer experience for software technology companies. He has worked in industries such as healthcare, cyber security, payments and higher education. 

Before joining the company, DiComes led customer success efforts at Jenzabar, where he was responsible for all post-sales customer delivery disciplines.
