LCS promotes Bridgette Uhlemann to SVP and general counsel

Bridgette Uhlemann has been promoted to senior vice president and general counsel at LCS

Uhlemann joined LCS in 2015 as a corporate governance manager. Since then, she has assumed responsibility and oversight for LCS legal affairs, including corporate governance, contract law, public policy, and corporate and regulatory compliance.

Uhlemann graduated from Drake University with an undergraduate degree in English and law, politics and society. She earned her law degree from Drake University.

Presbyterian Homes & Services names Becky Rauen SVP of HR

Becky Rauen has been named senior vice president and chief human resources officer at Presbyterian Homes & Services.

Rauen brings to the role 25 years of experience in leading human resources in complex healthcare environments, including service as vice president of human resources for North Memorial Health. She previously was director of human resources for Maple Grove Hospital and chief human resource officer for Cuyuna Regional Medical Center.

Malinda Shelton, Cindy Lyman and Amber Yarnell have been promoted at Village on the Park Bentonville by The Aspenwood Company

Shelton is now senior executive director, Lyman is now senior director of resident care and Yarnell is now director of resident care.

And Gwen Wilburn, senior vice president of clinical operations at Aspenwood, has been appointed to the board of the American Assisted Living Nurses Association. Wilburn’s career spans more than two decades.

Lifespace Communities names Abraham Mathew VP of regional operations

Abraham Mathew has been named vice president of regional operations for Lifespace Communities

Before joining Lifespace, Mathew oversaw operations for six continuing care retirement communities as director of operations and was senior executive director at Buckner Retirement Services. He also previously was a healthcare administrator for senior living organizations in Texas and Illinois.

Mathew holds a doctorate of business administration, in healthcare management and leadership, from California Intercontinental University and a master’s degree in social work. He chairs the Nursing Facility Administrators Advisory Committee for the state of Texas and is an adjunct professor in healthcare management at Labouré College of Healthcare.

Bedolla began her career with AHEPA 14 years ago as a service coordinator and most recently served as the director of service coordination.

Christie Hinrichs has been named president and CEO of Frasier, a life plan community in Boulder, CO. She began in her new role yesterday.

Before joining Frasier, Hinrichs was the president and CEO of Tabitha Healthcare. Under her guidance, Tabitha received accolades such as the Excellence in the Workplace award and the Trusted Voice award from LeadingAge. 

Hinrichs holds an undergraduate degree in social work from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and a Master of Arts degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University.

Doug Buttner has been named senior executive director, and Bonnie Barrella has been hired as director of community relations, at Benchmark at Alexandria, a Benchmark Senior Living assisted living and memory care community coming soon to Alexandria, VA.

Buttner brings more than 24 years of experience leading individual and groups of premier senior living communities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, including several large and continuing care retirement communities.

Barrella has more than 16 years of experience working in all facets of senior living, including sales, programming and move-in support, for some of the country’s largest providers.

Teresa Glidden has been named executive director of Morning Pointe of Franklin in Indiana.

Glidden has worked in senior living for 10 years. She has a background in independent senior living management, assisted living administration, nursing home administration and regional property management.

She earned a degree in business management from Cincinnati Tech.

Adam Bulatewicz has been named a controller at Enso Village, a Kendal affiliate set to open this fall in Healdsburg, CA.

In his most recent role, Bulatewicz was a global finance director for a Los Angeles-based marketing and experiential agency. He earned a master’s degree in management technology from New York University Polytechnic and an undergraduate degree in accounting from Brooklyn College.

Cypress Cove adds two to leadership team 

Laurent Bosc has joined Cypress Cove as director of culinary, and Diane Rippl is the new director of inspiring rehabilitation and wellness integration.

Bosc previously was the food and beverage director for seven years at ’Tween Waters Resorts under the SCBR Group. He is a certified management and supervision professional from the esteemed Mid-Florida Institute and has completed an international executive coaching program through Vistage.

Rippl has a background as a healthcare manager, physical therapist and wellness director. She holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Miami.

Marta Burton has been named community relations director for Chelsea Place, an Anthem Memory Care community in Aurora, CO.

She previously was sales director for an Atria Senior Living community in Englewood, CO, and also previously was a sales director for a Balfour Senior Living community in Louisville, CO.

Burton holds an undergraduate degree in theater and English from the University of Wyoming. She is certified as a mediator, conflict resolution coach and professional life and leadership coach.

NE/SAE appoints Mass-ALA’s Brian Doherty as board chair

The New England Society of Association Executives has appointed Brian Doherty, president and CEO of the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association, as its new chair.

Doherty joined Mass-ALA in 2018 and has helped lead the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, he was executive director of the Massachusetts Psychological Association and CEO of the Northeast Association of Realtors.

Oliver partnered with The Bridge Group at its conception five years ago as construction manager, overseeing all construction projects and teams. Foley & Lardner LLP has added partner Jim Miles and senior counsel Charles Gass to its healthcare practice.

Miles represents healthcare organizations, healthcare professionals and private equity firms with commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financing, joint ventures, and start-ups. He advises a range of providers, including assisted living communities.

Gass is a business attorney who advises private companies, private equity sponsors and strategic investors in complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, equity and debt financing, and general corporate matters.

PHI EVP Robert Espinoza appointed nonresident senior fellow at Brookings Institution

Robert Espinoza, executive vice president of policy at PHI, will spend a year as a nonresident senior fellow with Brookings Institution.

In 2020, Espinoza was selected for the first-ever CARE 100 list of the most innovative people working to reimagine care in America and as one of Next Avenue’s 2020 Influencers in Aging. In 2021, he testified before the US House Committee on Education and Labor on the need to improve funding nationwide for workforce interventions in direct care.

Espinoza’s work has been featured in major media outlets, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, NPR, CNN, Forbes, and the Washington Post. He also serves on the board of directors for the American Society on Aging, the National Academy of Social Insurance and the FrameWorks Institute.

CVS Health announces additional responsibilities for chief pharmacy officer

Prem Shah will continue as chief pharmacy officer and is now the sole president of CVS Health’s Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness division, which includes long-term care pharmacy Omnicare, the company announced Sept. 7.

Dime names Daniel Shaya Csillag head of new healthcare vertical

Daniel Shaya Csillag will join Dime Community Bancshares as group head of a newly created healthcare vertical. In this role, Csillag will be responsible for building out Dime’s healthcare commercial banking business in the long-term care space.

Csillag has expertise in all aspects of the long-term care industry, including assisted living, independent living, memory care and skilled nursing and rehabilitation. Most recently, he worked at Valley National Bank and predecessor institution Bank Leumi, where he was group head of healthcare. He had joined Bank Leumi in 2017 to oversee and expand its healthcare commercial banking business.

DIGroup Architecture recently joined more than 50 companies, organizations and individuals being celebrated at the Inaugural Empowering Women 2023 Awards. The flagship event was held at the Doubletree by Hilton Somerset in Somerset, NJ, to recognize those who have demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting and elevating women in New Jersey.
