Senior living making case for piece of latest $350B federal pandemic relief pie

Senior living is looking for a piece of the latest $350 billion pandemic relief pie that was announced Monday for state and local governments. The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced the launch of the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds. The plan permits state and local governments to distribute relief funding through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and extend “support for industries hardest hit by the crisis.”

4 industry leaders to join ASHA Senior Living Hall of Fame

Four senior living industry pioneers have been named to the 2021 class of the American Seniors Housing Association’s Senior Living Hall of Fame. Carl Campbell, Robert Thomas, William Thomas and Patricia Will will be inducted July 26 at ASHA’s Mid-Year Meeting in Incline Village, NV. They will join 13 honorees from three previous classes.

Bad news: Pandemic’s effects ‘far from over’; Good news: $126.1M CCRC deal is ‘some of best real estate we’ve purchased,’ CareTrust execs say

The bad news is that pandemic’s effects on senior living “are far from over,” CareTrust REIT Chairman and CEO Greg Stapley said Friday. The good news, however, is that the $126.1 million portfolio of continuing care retirement communities that CareTrust REIT closed on in March “represents some of the best real estate we have purchased since our start seven years ago,” Chief Investment Officer Mark Lamb said.

Operators see victory in amendment to bill that would have prohibited them from asking staff about vaccine status

A bill under consideration in Montana, which would prohibit employers from asking about and creating protocols related to an individual’s vaccination status, would exempt assisted living communities and other long-term care facilities thanks to an amendment from Gov. Greg Gianforte (R) approved by the state Legislature. House Bill 702, however, still would prohibit employers from requiring any type of vaccination as a condition of employment.
