Southfield, MI-based American House Senior Living Communities entered the Tennessee market this week with a management agreement for 13 Ventas-owned properties formerly managed by Eclipse Senior Living.

The Chicago-based real estate investment trust announced in October a strategic decision to transition 90 senior living communities from Eclipse to other operators. In a Dec. 14 business update posted to its website, Ventas said that 76 of the communities had transitioned and that the remainder were expected to move by January. In addition to American House, operators include Sinceri Senior Living (formerly JEA Senior Living, 21 communities), Discovery Senior Living (19), Priority Life Care (17), Sodalis Senior Living (13), Grace Management (4), and Sonida Senior Living (formerly Capital Senior Living, 3).

The recent move bolsters the American House management portfolio to a total of 70 communities that offer independent living, assisted living and/or licensed memory care services across the Midwest, New England and the Southeast.

The Tennessee communities total 875 units in communities formerly operated under the Elmcroft Senior Living name. The properties are being rebranded as American House Senior Living Communities.

“We are excited to embark on this partnership with Ventas and that will bring our well-respected brand of senior living to Tennessee, thus fulfilling our strategic vision to expand our business throughout markets in the Southeast,” Dale Watchowski, president and CEO of American House and REDICO, a national real estate development and investment company, said in a statement.

Future plans, he added, include new developments and acquisitions in the Carolinas.
