LifeSpire of Virginia and Pinnacle Living have entered into a joint venture agreement to provide home health and other organizational support services to those who currently do not live inside the walls of one of their retirement communities.

The companies individually operate large networks of life plan communities across Virginia. LifeSpire operates four life plan communities with a total of approximately 1,300 residents across Virginia and one “continuing care retirement community without walls” program in Richmond, VA, with 100 members. Pinnacle Living operates five life plan communities with a total of approximately 1,100 residents in Virginia.

The new venture, under the name Senior Living Partners of Virginia, has finalized the purchase of Williamsburg Landing Home Health and has acquired its existing assets, including state and federal home health licenses and certifications. The home health company will operate as Affirmation Home Health.

SLP’s home health division initially will provide home health services in the greater Richmond, Newport News and Williamsburg, VA, areas.

The news follows the announcement of expanding service lines by other senior living operators who hope that home health clients will look to them if they subsequently seek to move into a senior living community.

Bickford Senior Living and the HomeCare Advocacy Network launched a new service line earlier this month to deliver in-home care to Bickford residents in Ohio. And Cleveland-based Kendal at Home announced that it is expanding its home care offerings throughout the Buckeye State, including Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton and Toledo. Kendal at Home also is expanding in Massachusetts, the company said.
