Norcross, GA-based PruittHealth is expanding its presence in Georgia with the acquisition of three skilled nursing facilities from Piedmont. Two of the facilities are located in Augusta, and one is located in Stockbridge. PruittHealth already was managing the Stockbridge facility.

The deal brings the number of PruittHealth SNFs across the Southeast to 107.

“We have built a strong relationship with Piedmont, and this is the next step that will allow us both to better serve the health care needs of Georgia,” PruittHealth Chairman and CEO Neil L. Pruitt Jr. said in a statement. “We are committed to working with them now and in the future to ensure that superior post-acute care is available in our communities.”

With the transition, each SNF is assuming a new name. Augusta Extended Care Westwood will be rebranded as PruittHealth – Evans, Piedmont Augusta Extended Care Kentwood will now be called PruittHealth – Richmond, and Laurel Park will be renamed PruittHealth – Laurel Park.

Piedmont Chief Development and Strategy Officer Jack Tillman said that the change comes “after an extensive process and search for the most appropriate new owner and operator” and said Piedmont had “known and trusted” PruittHealth “for years.”

“We are most impressed with PruittHealth’s focus and dedication to providing high-quality skilled nursing services close to home,” he said.

Five PruittHealth SNFs received the Silver–Achievement in Quality award this year from the American Health Care Association, for “commitment to improving quality care,” and one received the Bronze–Commitment to Quality award, for “demonstrating high-level performance and quality outcomes.” Additionally, 10 PruittHealth locations were recognized as a Best Nursing Home for 2022-23 by US News & World Report.

Altogether, PruittHealth has more than 180 locations in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina, employing more than 13,000 and serving approximately 24,000 residents and patients daily. In addition to skilled nursing, the organization offers senior living, veteran services, home health, hospice and palliative care, therapy services, pharmacy and infusion services and more.
