Closeup of hands and court agreements

Tom’s River, NJ-based Complete Care Management is acquiring most of Hackensack Meridian Health’s long-term care holdings in a 10-year agreement.

Under the terms of the agreement, Complete Care will manage 11 properties transitioned from Hackensack Meridian Health properties, including nursing and subacute facilities in Brick, Hackensack, Holmdel, North Bergen, Ocean Grove, Plainfield, Shrewsbury and Wall, as well as two assisted living communities, located in Edison and Holmdel. Physicians and other clinicians in both organizations will meet regularly and work together to ensure a care continuum for hospital patients and residents, ROI-NJ reported.

“Long-term care is still a very important part of our continuum of care, and we have many care touch points throughout our network, including home care and hospice care. We believe this new model/structure with Complete Care continues, supports and furthers our commitment to integrated clinical care across the healthcare continuum,” a representative of Hackensack Meridian Health told the McKnight’s Business Daily.

“We are committed to ensuring a seamless transition with Complete Care and believe this ownership transfer will enhance the continuum of care of our patients and the well-being of our team members,” Hackensack Meridian Health CEO Robert C. Garret said in a joint press release.

Complete Care CEO Sam Stein called the agreement “a perfect alignment.”

The deal must be approved by the state attorney general and Department of Health.

Complete Care Management has not been without controversy. Last summer, a major union filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board against the company over concerns about how it was spending supplemental Medicaid funding meant to support certified nursing assistants. The union maintained that the company “unilaterally gutted workers’ benefits” upon assuming management of Genesis Healthcare properties in April 2021.
