McKnight’s Senior Living has earned a Platinum Award, the highest honor, in the business-to-business website category of the 2024 Hermes Creative Awards.

The recognition, for mcknightsseniorliving.com, was one of three awards bestowed on the national media brand for editorial excellence, with honors also received for columns written by Editor Lois A. Bowers.

Named on the best website award were Bowers, Content Editor Kimberly Bonvissuto, Editorial Director John O’Connor, Special Projects Coordinator Foster Stubbs, Graphic Designer Aminah Beg, Senior Art Director Monica Pizzi, and writers Kathleen Steele Gaivin and Aaron Dorman.

Bowers also won a Gold Award in the Best Single Blog category, for ‘The Golden Bachelor’ could be a golden opportunity, a column she wrote about a new reality show. Published Oct. 23, it was her most-read column of 2023. In it, Bowers pondered whether the new “Golden Bachelor” was another example of stereotyping and ageism or whether its outreach and focus on older adults were reasons to cheer

An honorable mention came for another blog by Bowers, “A big lump of coal … and an opportunity,” published Dec. 18. It was her last column of 2023 and was written on a Sunday, the same day as The Washington Post published a package of articles about assisted living and memory care community residents who had eloped and died. Bowers said the Washington Post articles were “a big lump of coal in the industry stocking” but also an opportunity.

The international Hermes contest is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. All awards were for work completed in 2023.

McKnight’s Senior Living now has won a total of 49 Hermes Creative Awards since 2016, the first year of the competition after the brand expanded on its print publication by adding a website, daily e-newsletter and social media.

Sister brands McKnight’s Long-Term Care News and McKnight’s Home Care also won awards in the 2024 Hermes competition.
